Photos: Oregon to San Francisco

We rode out of Oregon on 12/12 and made our way through Del Norte, Humbolt and Mendocino Counties before finally arriving in the San Francisco Bay Area on the 23rd, the day before Christmas Eve. Most of it was on bikes, but we did take two busses and one truck. We camped a couple of times, slept in a church, several homes, and one homeless shelter. We ate roast goat, avocados, oranges, salmon, and a lot of roadside fennel. We rested for two days, caught one cold, and replaced one wheel. We had some rain, but mostly sun; one snow shower, and one wind gust that almost blew Tuula off her bicycle. In all, we would like to report that we are finally in shape and ready to take on the next 4,300 miles!

  1. Tne next time you pass through Oregon, you might want to check out the Oregon Food Bank. I volunteer here sometimes, and it's the only statewide food bank in the U.S.

  2. We are from Oregon, so when we get home we will definitely follow up on that tip! We love our local food bank, Food For Lane County, which actually contracts with local farmers to grow lentils and barley for their soup mixes. Now that's smart!
